FAQ – How can I edit the exported data?
You may edit and complement it just as you like and then re-import it to card2brain.
In the process, there are a few things you need to pay attention to – here goes the most important information:
Google Drive:
Open Google Drive in your browser und create a new spreadsheet.
Now, go to "File" > "Import". This opens the import dialog.
Click on "Choose File" and select the .csv file you exported from card2brain.
In the “Import action” section, you can decide for yourself: Selecting “Create new spreadsheet” will create a new file. With the "Replace spreadsheet" option, the data will be inserted into the currently open spreadsheet.
Finally, you can choose "Comma" as a separator character and then click on "Import".
If you want to re-import the modified data back to card2brain, you have to download them as .csv file.
"File" > "Download as" > "CSV (current sheet)"
Excel:
Create a new file in Excel.
Now, go to the "Data" tab and select "From Text" in the "Get External Data" group.
Excel then opens the Import Wizard.
Select "Delimited" as data type.
Start import at row: 1
Set the "File origin" to "65001: Unicode (UTF-8)".
Now, click on "Continue".
Choose "Comma" from the "Delimiters".
The "Text qualifier" has to be set as a (") (quotation mark).
Next, click on “Continue”.
You can keep the "Standard" setting in "Column data format".
Then click on "Complete".
If you want to re-import the modified data back to card2brain, you have to save it as .csv file.
"Data" > "Save as" > Choose any file name and set the file type to "CSV (character-separated) (*.csv)"
OpenOffice:
Go to "File" > "Open". Select the .csv file exported from card2brain.
OpenOffice will automatically open the import screen.
For the data to be imported correctly, you have to choose the following settings:
Character set: Unicode (UTF-8)
Language: Default
From row: 1
In the Separator options, select "Separated by" and tick "Comma". The Text delimiter has to be a " (quotation mark).
Complete importing by clicking on "OK".
